CT virtually simulates the installation of a robot in a manufacturing plant.

The R&D project Plug & Play is financed by the NUCLIS grant with funds from FEDER 2016.This project aims to provide solutions in the implementation of a welder for automotive industrialization.

CT is working on the R&D project Plug & Play which aims to achieve the virtual simulation of a robotic welding installation. This will make it possible to analyse all the movements, operation times, and communication between the different devices that make up the installation. The project objective is to improve competitiveness and efficiency in the implementation of robotic systems.

This virtual robotic simulation integrates the work of four modules (robotics, tooling, environment and PLC – Programmable Logic Controller) solving problems arising from sharing these modules in the assembly phase and not beforehand. The Plug & Play project aims to make all the necessary modifications in the stages prior to assembly in the production plant, even before manufacturing, reducing losses in terms of productivity and resources. This virtualization of the process reduces costs derived from modifications as they anticipate the “Off-tool” condition. The concept of the “Off-tool” condition is that tools, robots and other ‘environmental elements’ are ready for final installation. Any incident after this point, would entail returning the affected elements to their original manufacturer to be modified, or moving and changing specialized personnel.

This Plug & Play project is partnered with the Catalonia Technology Centre Eurecat and has received funding from the NUCLIS grant and FEDER 2016 funds.
