The energy project will have a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant, a lithium-ion battery system with a storage capacity of 20 MWh and one of the largest hydrogen production systems by electrolysis in the world (20 MW), all from 100% renewable sources. The green hydrogen produced there will be used in the ammonia factory in Fertiberia, which is already one of the most efficient factories in the European Union.

CT, which already has an office in Puertollano, where it has been offering multiple packages of engineering services in industrial plants for almost a decade, will provide a multidisciplinary team, centralized in CT’s office in the town and supported by the rest of the company’s Industrial Plants Areas, located in other locations in Spain.

“Contributing to the design of the largest green hydrogen production plant in Europe is both an honor and a huge challenge. Our engineers will put their skills and extensive experience in Civil and Structural Engineering, Electricity, Instrumentation and Mechanics at the service of the project. As a company operating in numerous sectors, from aeronautics and automotive to railway, marine and energy, we are aware of the importance of decarbonizing the world’s most carbon-intensive industries, including power generation, chemicals, steel manufacturing and heavy transport”, explains Cristina Maroto, CT’s Puertollano Site Manager.

CT actively participates in energy projects that exploit the potential of renewable energies, including the Wikinger and East Anglia 1 wind farms, or the Támega, Aldeadávila, El Cortijo, Urrunaga, San Pedro II or Ricobayo hydroelectric complexes, all of them initiatives promoted by Iberdrola, among others.
